Aleksandr Vlasov will not ride Tour de France after his early departure from Giro d'Italia where he got ill with Covid. The Russian cyclist prefers a rather steady build up for La Vuelta a España as the Bora-hansgrohe confirmed.
Aleksandr Vlasov finished 5th in GC of Tour de France last year, but this season he was aiming for the Giro. That was a disappointment, because of a corona infection he had to step out. Yet, no change to his plans will be made, as the 27-year old will turn his attention towards Spanish Grand Tour.
Bora-Hansgrohe is expected to ride the Tour de France with ex-Giro winner Jai Hindley as leader, while Emanuel Buchmann and Sergio Higuita will be his key men and possible backup. Sam Bennett will normally take care of the bunch sprints.
