Abu Dhabi confirmed to host the 2028 World Cycling Championships

Whilst the 2023 World Championships in Glasgow may have only just got underway, it has now been confirmed where will host the 2028 version of the championships, Abu Dhabi.

The UCI have confirmed the news at a press conference in Glasgow whilst simultaneously announcing the 2029 track Cycling World Championships will also be hosted in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Abu Dhabi is no stranger to cycling formerly having it's own stage race, with Alejandro Valverde winning the final Abu Dhabi Tour back in 2018. Since 2019 the race has been rechristened the UAE Tour but still regularly visits Abu Dhabi with Tim Merlier winning the stage there earlier this year.
