Primoz Roglic has virtually every year been close to the top of the Velo d'Or over the most recent seasons, and in 2020 he was the winner of this prestigious award. However due to the Covid-19 pandemic he was not given the actual trophy, but that happens this Sunday.
It is a story that, like many during that period, appears rather unreal. Roglic won the Velo d'Or that season - having won the Vuelta a Espana and finished second at the Tour de France - but there wasn't a physical awards show. Hence his trophy was not delivered, and over the past 3 years the attribution never ended up taking place. That ends today however at the BEKING charity criterium that will take place in Monaco, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport. Roglic will be taking to the start alongside other big stars such as Tadej Pogacar and Mark Cavendish.
