In what is one of the longest contracts in professional cycling - together with his future teammate Tadej Pogacar - Jan Christen will be brought in to UAE Team Emirates until 2027, the year where he will still be racing as a 22-year old.
Christen, who's a part of the development 'Pogi Team', has had already close ties with the team and was expected to make the move in the coming years. UAE Team Emirates were not clear on when the Swiss rider will make the move to the World Tour team, however he is expected to join in the coming years as he leaves the Junior ranks.
Christen is ranked as one of the most promising talents in current cycling. Current Cyclocross World champion, he's also got national titles in several other disciplines - road, track and mountain bike. This diversity and undeniable talent has, despite his young age, brought the attention of top World Tour teams.
Team DS Mauro Gianetti has announced the transfer, aswell as detailing the move: "He will first focus on completing his studies and progressing gradually through to the professional ranks. We have no fixed time-frame for this step and it is something we will not rush." Christen said that "at UAE I feel like I’m at the right place to do that," and the collaboration is likely to be hitting headlines in the coming years as he climbs to the Elite ranks.
