- Even Pogi heard this comment, he will just say "you can say whatever you'd said but I'm enjoying to ride my bike" and to feel the fans what they want to see in the race.
- He’s being quite kind to Roger - far kinder than he deserves. Pog is not only a dominant rider, he doesn’t seem to be an a$& either. Something Roger is clearly incapable of. Would he be saying the same of a fellow Belgian?
- Pogi's favorite coach 🫡
- true, burnout is possible. Jonas has had more injuries. we’ll see.
- I think a small area of premium seating with services for pay is justified. free parades, like the tournament of roses parade here in LA, do this all the time. it affects no one. it is such a small area, and as a cyclist that would have to travel to the TdF, I would gladly take a reserved seat with concierge service for food and drinks. a screen to watch the race since I only see a fraction of it as the peloton comes by. zero issues with this idea. there is zero percent chance that if they took 100 or 200 meters of a 150 km stage, added bleachers, and amenities behind for food, a screen in front on the other side of the road, that it would destroy the race. we’re talking about losing less than 1% of the course. more like 0.2%
- I think the key point is that a champion in this generation, would have been then. and the reverse is true. if Eddy, Roger and the gang had modern bikes, training and nutrition, there is no reason to believe they wouldn’t be champions today.
but this is not to diminish what tadej is doing. all he can do is compete and win against those he is against, and he is doing so brilliantly.
- Wow, an actual thoughtful, reasoned perspective. Chapeau, guy I have never heard of!
- We can go deeper and say that CX would be better without Ronhaar, Nieuwenhuis, Nys, Aerts and Vanthourenhout... Maybe "true" fight was somewhere in the back of all CX riders? Or we can stop listening those "experts" and enjoy fight between MvdP and WvA :-)
- It depends. Tadej was more precocious than Jonas, maybe his declination also could be more precocious. Jonas was always slower in his maturation; he only started winning important races after he was 24-25. One can mature/decline a little earlier or a little later, regardless of crono-age.
- Exactly what I wanted to say. It was literally his first race ever as a neopro
