- Or if Remco has one more injury or any of his common flameouts, he risks everything. He should take the money and run.
- As a Quick Step fan, he’s won a couple world championships, the clubs first GT, and a couple Liege’s. Plus countless other races. It was a good run, no reason to be upset.
But then good riddance. He’s drama, and they will never have an appropriate team to win a modern GT. Tadej and Jonas rode with domestiques that would be stars elsewhere. Look at who UAE didn’t bring, that’s a star list on the bench.
It’s better to take the 2mil and rebuild the Wolfpack. Win in the spring and stages in the summer.
- Quinn will fight for the win
- It’s tough to take a break in a sport with such a short life expectancy. As an amateur we don’t realise, we hit an obstacle, we just change our goals. Our life doesn’t depend on it, our bank account and family don’t depend on it, we don’t have to justify our decision to anyone but ourselves.
I have postponed peaking since over 40 years (and yes, I’m still capable of improvement). Life just gets in the way all the time, new jobs, moving, new kids, injuries, none of it really matters, but as a pro, you know you have a very limited number of years to take advantage of your shape. Tough call, especially when you can’t have the experience you need to weigh up what you can deal with as opposed to what your body can deal with.
- See you next year Remco, as co-leader of the RedBull cycling team 😉
- Feel sorry for Soudal-QuickStep, they've changed the entire team 'to a stage racer team, than a classics/stage winning team. RE has yet again not hit the real deal. He's floated over, being shielded from reality, one day this prodigal son, will run out...
- And looking old and tired. Don’t really understand what fans were expecting from either of the two in the last days after what they did these 3 weeks.
- Definitely time to start handing out punishment for mobbing, intimidation and such considering it is often strategically used. That’s only one step down from the next level of action, making someone fall if no-one is paying attention or it can be made to look like an accident.
- You may be right on a lot of things but maybe not the buyout. If Soudal feel he will go anyway, they’ll likely take 2 coz he’s not going to be worth that much to them until next year when they will get sweet f.a.
Nobody is going to offer 10 or even 5 if they know they can get him free next year.
The party that has the biggest interest in waiting it out is actually probably Remco himself. Next year without the buyout, there will be more available for offering in salary and there could also be more teams bidding without the extra cost. Pecking order might also be a bit clearer by then what with all the new data from the Tour to consider and the unhappy marriages to resolve.
- They are both cooked. I wonder if Tadej will go to the Vuelta? If Jonas goes I doubt he will. I believe his cold was much worse than he let on. This last week he has been a bit more serious than usual.
