One of the rare meetings on cyclocross' 'Big 3' this winter, the UCI
World Cup round in Hulst may have already seen two of the star attractions rule out of race-winning contention.
After a broken bike saw
Tom Pidcock into some early difficulty,
Wout van Aert has also lost a big chunk of time in the early stages, crashing at a seemingly innocuous point in the race and having subsequent chain issues. In total, around 30 seconds have been lost by the Belgian due to the incident.
That will prevent Van Aert and MVDP from killing the sport, since they won every races they are entering on, which would make cyclocross boring, because the race would be predictable. Nobody likes predictable races, right?
