Shirin van Anrooij ends her cyclocross season early due to injuries

Some sad news was revealed this morning by the Baloise - Trek Lions team. Shirin van Anrooij has been forced to call an early end to her cyclocross campaign due to injury.

"Unfortunately Shirin van Anrooij won’t be racing CX races anymore this season," reveals an official statement by the Baloise - Trek Lions Instagram account. "A hard crash during CX training caused her a lot of pain in her ribs, which she tried to fight as much as possible. But with one heavily bruised and one broken rib, the risk of racing is just too big. Her recovery is our priority at this point."

With one win to her name this winter at the Trek Cup on the 13th of October, the 21-year-old always there or thereabouts in the bigger races but failed to really challenge the likes of Fem van Empel, Lucinda Brand and Puck Pieterse.
