Despite that "part of the course is under water", Gullegem's Hexia Cross organisers remain confident this will not impact the race

The abundant rainfall of the past few days is also ravaging the cyclo-cross course in Gullegem. The 7th edition of the Hexia Cross will be held there next Saturday. However, the organization is not too concerned by the weather conditions

Rain, rain and more rain. The soil in Gullegem can no longer absorb all the water. The course is located on the Heulebeek and today "part of the course is under water", the organization reports.

"That is not the first time. During the first edition in 2018, the grounds were flooded a few days before the competition," it said. "The competition will certainly not be compromised," the organizers promise. "We are closely monitoring the situation, because during a dry(er) period the water level can drop quickly. If that is not the case, we will adjust the route. After all, it concerns a small (lower) part of the circuit."

On Saturday, Tom Pidcock, Thibau Nys and Michael Vanthourenhout will be the crowd pullers for the men. Ceylin Alvarado tops the bill for the women.
