Cyclocross tretarchy receives praises from Belgian national coach - "It was the most beautiful cyclocross I have ever seen"

Mathieu van der Poel, Wout van Aert and Tom Pidcock did an amazing show from Monday to Friday, at the last races of the 2022 year, ending it with good note. The trio was by far better than the rest of competition and always put on a show being the races decided only at the end.

Belgian national coach Sven Vanthourenhout wasn't indifferent to this spectacle,"This level is unparalleled in the cyclocross world. It was the most beautiful cyclocross I have ever seen. From start to finish it was excitement all around. The level was insanely high in all areas. I have never seen this before", he stated in declarations for Sporza.

"If Van der Poel had ridden around with these legs in recent years, he would simply have won. The level of form of the three is so similar that only details can still make the difference", he added in comment to Van Der Poel declarations in Diegem where he said that "He did not have the legs to win".

Still the amount of effort this three have already been doing in cyclocross for some time can it not be be counter productive for their 2023 road cycling season objectives?

"This is where the difference is already being made with the rest of their colleagues on the road. To grope so deeply into their pouch of strength, they will also have to do so during the last two cobbled sections of Paris-Roubaix", Vanthourenhout explained how is important and good for them to go so hard on cyclocross for their road goals.
