The road season has already written the first stories of 2025, but those who are looking out for the biggest stars of peloton are eagerly awaiting their favourites' first racing kilometers of this season. Wout Van Aert's fans will be rewarded for their patience already next week when the Belgian superstar lines up for the Spanish one-day race with gravel sectors; Clásica Jaén Paraiso Interior.
Of course, the 30-year-old won't start just for the sake of participating, but ideally plans open his 2025 account on a victorious note. That cannot be done without a top-notch preparation and Van Aert doesn't quite hold back in that regard. Yesterday, he uploaded on his Strava not one, but TWO activities - a 6 km run followed by a nearly 240 km training ride around Mallorca.
Van Aert therefore seems more than ready for the first races in a season as the Visma | Lease a Bike rider (along with the whole team) aims to get revenge for unlucky 2024 campaign haunted by crashes, injuries and illnesses. He'll start at Clásica Jaén next Monday, followed by Volta ao Algarve (February 19-23) and then travel to Belgium for the first cobbled races of this spring.
