Demi Vollering seems to be unstoppable this season. The Dutch start this week in the Itzulia Women and then also has the Vuelta a Burgos Femina on her program. Isn't it getting too much? De Tribune spoke to Lieselot Decroix, coach of Jumbo-Visma on this topic.
"I think that Demi must have been at altitude somewhere between Strade Bianche and Ronde van Vlaanderen," says Decroix in De Tribune. "You also need those specific periods in which there is no racing and mainly training to be able to maintain a certain basic level."
"Because of the overcrowded calendar for the women, it is very good planning", says Decroix. "I suspect that there will be another competition-free period for Vollering after Burgos to be able to train well for the summer. That way you can keep it up."
Demi Vollering has been an absolute menace of this spring, winning Strade Bianche, Dwars doors Vlaanderen, completing the Ardennes Triple, all that while coming second at Ronde van Vlaanderen and Brabantse Pijl. Some would've thought she would take break after such streak, but the Dutch cyclist continued by nearly winning La Vuelta Femenina if not for one poorly timed sanitary stop.
