Vuelta a Espana GC update | Kuss remains in red, Evenepoel takes time on the red, Vingegaard loses time

The Valladolid time trial of the Vuelta a Espana did not end up with very steep differences between the men in the general classification, although it did cause some riders to get closer to Sepp Kuss and others to move away.
The most favoured were Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic, who are now third and fourth, very close to the first two, Sepp Kuss and a solid Marc Soler. Behind, Joao Almeida, Jonas Vingegaard and Juan Ayuso are in a tight spot. Enric Mas suffered and lost a position in the GC as did Mikel Landa who fell out of the Top10. Aleksandr Vlasov slipped into the top 10 after a great time for his part.
Vuelta a Espana overall classification after stage 10:
1. Sepp Kuss
2. Marc Soler at 26".
3. Remco Evenepoel at 1'09".
4. Primoz Roglic at 1'36".
5. Lenny Martinez at 2'02".
6. Joao Almeida at 2'16".
7. Jonas Vingegaard at 2'22".
8. Juan Ayuso at 2'25".
9. Enric Mas at 2'50".
10. Aleksandr Vlasov at 3'14".

- Its difficult to compare the two, since both are fundamentally different as cyclists. Jonas is essentially a stage racer, whereas Mads excels in classics as well as in sprint stages at GTs. At this point of time, Jonas with his two Tour wins, beating Pogacar no less, has the better credentials. Jeez, this is the Giro, and apart from there being other races and riders not participating, there are over 150 riders with plots and subplots, including a thing called the GC for which I doubt VERY much he’ll come into contention. Are there no other stories or topics to propose currently? Does every article have to include MP? Comparisons to Wout, to Danes, how hell fare on every single stage. - I wonder if Mads' resurgence has something to do with Lidl-Trek electing to go with Jonathan Milan for Tour de France, thereby relegating Mads to the Giro and missing TDF for the first time in his career. - Hey, all great and deserving of respect but let’s not look at things too pinkly. He’s only just above Marc Hirschi in the UCI rankings. He’s had the potential to do this for the last 7-8 years, it’s just all come together at once, having his moment. Maybe he went on a secret HA camp :-) Seriously though, he’s NEVER said he doesn’t believe in it (challenge: find me that quote), he said he hates it in words that would get an F1 driver punished, and for the same reasons that his fellow countryman Jonas gets crucified for, being away from family (though given team budgets, there is an obvious solution to that). Besides, not very professional of media and pundits to linger on past out of date sayings, he’s more or less changed his mind in the meantime and is no longer categoric about refusing to try.Mistermaumau12-05-2025
