Jonas Vingegaard's next racing appointment remains the Critérium du Dauphiné, also often seen as the final test before Tour de France. It'll be also the first competition for the Dane in nearly three months. The leader of Visma | Lease a Bike was forced to withdraw from Paris-Nice early in the season as a consequence of a concussion caused by a crash during fifth stage.
Vingegaard has had a difficult period, but is now fully fit again and has started his preparation for the upcoming Tour de France. While he'll be heading south soon enough to meet up with the Tour team at the altitude camp in Sierra Nevada, he's already had an opportunity to discover parts of the 2025 Tour de France route.
The two-time Tour champion visited the south of France on Tuesday. The two-time Tour winner was spotted on the flanks of the climb to Hautacam and the Col de Peyresourde. These climbs will play a key role during the second week of this year's Grande Boucle. Hautacam is planned as finish of a difficult stage 12 while Peyresourde will be one of many obstacles two days later when riders cross Tourmalet and finish in Luchon-Superbagneres.
Vingegaard is no longer suffering from the after-effects of his concussion in Paris-Nice. "I no longer have any problems or other physical discomfort. I am now training again without any problems and I will soon be leaving for an altitude training camp. I am really looking forward to racing again. I have not raced much in the past year, so I am really looking forward to starting again."
After his internship in Sierra Nevada, the Critérium du Dauphiné (8-15 June) is on the schedule. After this race, an altitude training camp in Tignes follows as a final preparation for the Tour de France (5-27 July).
