Video: Fabio Jakobsen sprints to finish seconds before time limit at Tour de France

The 17th stage of the Tour de France was very short with only 129 kilometers on the menu, hence the time limit wasn't overly big which has put several riders under severe pressure to survive the day to make it inside the time limit. One of those was Fabio Jakobsen.

Under the unrelenting pace of UAE Team Emirates, the stage had it's finale raced incredibly quick with no restbite. The time limit was set on 37:03 minutes, which has seen every rider make it in time but just barely as Fabio Jakobsen made it with just 15 seconds to spare.

Having had the company of his Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Teammates for most of the stage, they went ahead fearing the time limit. Jakobsen was the last man on the road, having to sprint up the gruesome final ramps of Peyragudes to make it inside the limit, being cheered on by staff and teammates.

The Dutchman will have two more opportunities to take stage wins on stages 19 and 21, but will however need to survive tomorrow's stage into Hautacam to get there.
