Finishing third last year, Stefan Küng will rightly go into Paris-Roubaix 2023 full of self confidence and believing he can pull off another good result. Key to his goal however will be arriving solo in the velodrome so he believes.
“That was nice," recall Kung of his podium ride twelve months ago at the Hell of the North. "This year we want to do at least as well, maybe even better. But it is a very difficult race to win. You have to get through the first part unscathed to play a part in the final. The dream scenario is to arrive solo in the velodrome.”
The Groupama-FDJ leader, Kung believes he comes into this race as well prepared as he has ever been before in his previous seven efforts. “Last year there were two weeks between Flanders and Roubaix, with the Amstel in between. This year it's the classic approach again," he explains. "I felt good in Flanders, so don't overdo it the following week. Just keep calm and give everything."
