For the third time this year,
Derek Gee has had to settle for second on a stage of the
Giro d'Italia. One of the standout performers of the race, victory still alludes him.
"He was so strong, I have to congratulate him, that was unbelievable," said Gee, full of praise for
Nico Denz who powered his way to a second stage win of the race for the German. "That's a lot of second places. This was the narrowest. I did everything I could, but Nico kept going with nine hundred metres. I couldn't answer that, chapeau, that was unbelievable. There was nothing that could be done."
