Stan van Tricht takes first pro victory at Coppa Bernocchi 2024 as Evenepoel, Roglic & Hirschi don't feature in finale

Alpecin-Deceuninck's Stan van Tricht has taken first professional victory at Coppa Bernocchi 2024, boosting his hopes at extending his career as he searches for a contract for 2025.

Heading toward a frantic finale, just three riders remained from the day's original breakaway as the race entered the final 50km, those being Bart Lemmen, Stan van Tricht and Alessandro Pinarello. Sadly for them though, the racing was already lighting up behind with none other than Remco Evenepoel himself on the attack early. At 30km to go though, Lemmen had dropped his companions and still held around a minute on a chase group containing Pavel Sivakov, with Evenepoel's group now 2:00 back down the road.

As Lemmen neared a first ever pro victory, the Dutchman's legs looked as if they were starting to tie up and at 10km to go, his advantage had closed again to just 17 seconds. Inside the final kilometre, Lemmen was finally caught by the chasers and from there, it was a 7-man fight for the line. In the end, it was Stan van Tricht who powered to glory ahead of Alex Baudin and Roger Adria.
