Soren Waerenskjold has taken Uno-X Mobility's first win of the season in a frantic sprint on stage 2 of the 2025 Etoile de Bessèges in Marguerittes.
Five riders went clear in the early breakaway of the day. Included in the group was the King of the Mountains classification leader, Axandre Van Petegem, plus his nearest challenger, Victor Vercouillie. The peloton was not in a giving mood however, keeping the attackers on a tight leash as shown by the fact the leaders only had around 1:45 with 50km to go. They certainly didn't make it easy for the bunch though, and it wasn't until 4.8km to go that the catch was finally completed by the peloton.
As the sprint teams then came to the fore at the front of the peloton, battling for positioning ahead of the final sprint. As the sprints opened up though, Uno-X Mobility's Soren Waerenskjold proved quickest of the bunch, taking the win ahead of Arnaud Demare.
