Uno-X Mobility's Magnus Cort Nielsen has sprinted to victory on stage 1 of O Gran Camiño 2025 in Matosinhos, prevailing with an incredible, long-range move.

Six riders got themselves up the road to form the day's breakaway in an attempt to deny the sprint teams. The lack of major sprinters present in the race though, cast a little doubt on the peloton's desire to chase hard. The peloton were indeed working hard to control things, although perhaps too hard because as soon as the break was caught fairly early at 40km to go, a second string of attacks immediately got underway. In fact, by the time the race reached 30km to go, Martin Marcellusi and Alvaro Sagrado were both out ahead of the peloton, clear by over a minute.

Despite the momentary scare Marcellusi and Sagrado must have given the sprint teams when they attacked, by 6km to go, the threat had been successfully nullified. Due to the lack of true sprinters, it was something of a chaotic finale, but in the end it was Magnus Cort Nielsen who took the victory ahead of Santiago Mesa and Giovanni Lonardi.
