Mads Pedersen has secured his second GC win of the year already despite missing out on the win to Tom van Asbroeck on a wind-effected stage 3 of the Tour de la Provence.
With echelons causing havoc, the peloton was split all across the road for much of the day. Although this could have been of great concern for pre-stage, overall leader, Mads Pedersen, the Lidl-Trek looked supreme, as he has done all season to be fair, keeping himself in the front part of the peloton with each split that formed.
The pace was so high in the Pedersen group that the breakaway was soon swallowed up and entering the final 10km, a group of 26 riders totalled the lead group. In the sprint for the line, it was a very close finish but Tom van Asbroeck claimed the win from Sam Bennett in second with Axel Zingle third.
