Luca Mozzato raced to his first victory among professional cyclists in the second stage of the Tour du Limousin on Wednesday, but that's not all. The 25-year-old Italian has today also extended his expiring contract with Arkéa-Samsic for another two seasons.
Mozzato is in his first season for manager Emmanuel Hubert's team, before that he raced for B&B Hotels-KTM for several years. The fast Italian managed to sprint to many places of honor in recent seasons, but still had to wait a long time for his first professional victory. Yesterday it was finally a hit for Mozzato: in the second stage of the Tour du Limousin he finished off his opponents in a sprint.
Mozzato was also fifth in Le Samyn earlier this year and sixth in the Route Adélie de Vitré and Rund um Köln. He was also at the start of the Tour de France again this season. The Italian also managed to finish his second Tour de France and even rode to four top 10 finishes. He achieved his best result in the stage to Bordeaux. Mozzato was fourth in the sprint, behind winner Jasper Philipsen, Mark Cavendish and Biniam Girmay.
Mozzato is very grateful to team leader Emmanuel Hubert, after he had to look for another employer at the end of 2022 - after the collapse of the B&B project. "Emmanuel then contacted me and offered me a contract. I was subsequently adopted into the Arkéa-Samsic family. I feel at home, the collaboration is going very well and I am therefore happy with a contract extension of two seasons," says the fast man in a press release.
