Jasper Philipsen shares anecdote from his third stage win on last year's Tour de France: "It was like a funeral on the bus. There they were on their TV, 3km from the finish"

Jasper Philipsen was the sprint bomb of the Tour de France last year with four stage victories and the green jersey. Philipsen experienced one of his glory days in Bordeaux, although the Belgian said in Vrede op Aarde that even his Alpecin-Deceuninck team could not always keep up with the fast sprinter.

On July 7, Jasper Philipsen won the stage 7 of last year's Tour de France after a tough battle with Mark Cavendish. For the green Philipsen, that success in Bordeaux was his third stage victory at that point.

Crazy euphoria of course and Philipsen happened to stop at the Alpecin-Deceuninck team bus immediately after the finish.

"I put my bike against the team bus and went inside," Philipsen described. "I shouted: 'We won, yes!' But it was like a funeral on the bus. There they were on their TV, 3 kilometers from the finish. They looked at me: 'Uh, what?' I went outside. It was more fun there," he concludes the anecdote.
