Whilst the win of returning superstar Remco Evenepoel and his thrilling battle with Wout van Aert take the headlines from Brabantse Pijl 2025, shortly after the two Belgians, UAE Team Emirates - XRG prodigy Antonio Morgado won the sprint from the bunch for the final spot on the podium, quietly adding yet another standout performance to his palmares.
The 21-year-old Portuguese has already starred throughout the 2025 season so far, adding two wins to his palmares. Standing on the final podium of a prestigious Belgian Classic alongside such illustrious company as Evenepoel and Van Aert however, is another milestone in Morgado's young career. "I'm super proud to be with these two Belgian legends," he reflects with a smile in his post-race interview afterwards. "It's a big pleasure."
Reflecting on his Classics season as a whole so far however, Morgado isn't totally enthused. "I think I've had a bit of bad luck. I did some good preparation and I felt super good in the beginning. But after Omloop I needed to stop for nine days, so it's been hard," he explains.
"It was hard again today. I really didn't feel good in this race and I was dropped quite a few times. But I know that in these races you never quit," continues Morgado. "On the last climb I felt good, so yeah, I did my best. I don't do the Ardennes now, but I still have two races (Vuelta Asturias & Eshborn-Frankfurt ed.) before my big, mid-season break so I'm going to try to do something!"
