For the women's road world champion,
Lotte Kopecky, the 2024 season gets underway later today with the opening of the
UAE Tour Women.
“I want to see where I stand without any pressure,” the Belgian star of
Team SD Worx - Protime previews pre-race in conversation with the Belga news agency. “Good weather, chance of fans, regaining the rhythm of the race: I'm looking forward to getting started."
After a stunning 2023 season that saw Kopecky take the Rainbow Jersey, finish second overall at the Tour de France Femmes and add notable victories to her palmares at races such as the Tour of Flanders, the Simac Ladies Tour and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad among others, can she get off to a good start in 2024?
"I want to continue working towards the classics,” she explains. “We want to get our sprint train back on track. Or even improve, compared to last year. Hopefully, we can take some stage wins. It's a bit of a question mark how that will go. I think the feeling I will have is more important than the result itself.”
