Many thought that
Remco Evenepoel would take a day off during the final stage of
Vuelta a Espana after being one of the protagonists of the race, but piece was never an option for the Belgian who initiated the winning move of six that eventually fought it out narrowly holding off the marching peloton.
"I just wanted to enjoy this last day as much as possible. My wife was here, my family, my parents… I just wanted to give it one last push. I had a free card from the team. It was a good group and we went to the finish line. But seeing the fast guys in the group, I knew it would be pretty difficult to beat them. I think it’s a nice day and a nice way to finish the Vuelta."
