Brent Van Moer's future lies in one-week stage races, the Lotto Dstny racing rider announced in an interview with WielerFlits. In 2023, Van Moer achieved by far his best results since he turned professional four years ago.
"I am very satisfied, because I achieved some nice results. Especially in week-long race: fifth in the 4 Jours de Dunkerque, third in the Tour de Wallonie, seventh in the Tour of Denmark. Those were good results on which I can continue to build," says Van Moer.
"I have come to the conclusion that I should be able to win those one-week races," the 25-year-old claims ambitiously. "This year I started working on my time trial again, which has ensured that I can ride a good classification in the races with a time trial. I think I have to continue working on that, then I can certainly move up one place and compete for the win."
A Grand Tour was missing in Van Moer's last season, but he certainly wants to ride one in 2024. "I don't know yet whether we will do the Giro, but the Tour? You always want to be there. This year that was not possible. There are also many great races during the Vuelta, so I have to make a choice there again. This year I chose not to ride it and I don't regret it."
