After some uncomfortable first stages, the moment of truth arrives for the GC men at the Vuelta a España 2025. Egan Bernal, after a good start on a personal level and seeing how his INEOS teammate Ben Turner took the fourth stage of the race, commented at the finish line that he is looking forward to the important moments of the race.
"Now the first mountain stage is coming soon and we'll see what happens," said Bernal, who is eager to prove that he is back and that he can fight with the world's best riders.
He makes it clear that all his INEOS colleagues have been saving energy these days to be at their best for Wednesday's team time trial, which can surely generate some differences between the favorites for the general classification:
"We were thinking all day about tomorrow's time trial, obviously Ben wanted to do the sprint and he won, but in general we all want to save for tomorrow for the time trial."
Asked about the first high finish in Andorra next Thursday, he didn't want to wet his pants and put the focus on the time trial: "For the moment tomorrow we'll do a good time trial with the guys and then we'll see how it goes in the first high finish."

He also didn't want to answer anything about whether it's possible to beat Jonas Vingegaard at any point of the race: "I don't know, we'll see."
We will see what happens in the next stages to see if Egan Bernal is able to compete with the best climbers of the Vuelta a España. At the last Giro d'Italia he suffered several crashes that prevented us from seeing if his level was higher than the seventh place he got at the end and we will have to see if he is here for more or less.
