GC update Vuelta a Espana 2025 stage 1 - Jasper Philipsen takes the lead; Briton Ethan Vernon in second

Stage 1 of the Vuelta a Espana finished in Novara with a regular bunch sprint, and Jasper Philipsen took the stage win. Just like he did at the Tour de France, the Alpecin-Deceuninck rider has ridden into the first lead of the race.
Philipsen was victorious after a standard leadout from Alpecin-Deceuninck and took the 10 bonus seconds at the finish line which boost him to the race lead, with no splits happening behind. Ethan Vernon (second in the stage) and Pepijn Reinderink (from intermediate sprints) are tied in second place 4 seconds behind.
On stage 2 it is expected that Philipsen will lose the race lead - again, as has happened at the Tour - due to the race's summit finish in Limone and the lack of form he showed at the recent Tour of Denmark. Could Jonas Vingegaar already jump into the race lead?
