Florian Vermeersch suffers fractured femur in Vuelta Ciclista a la Region de Murcia crash

In a disastrous start to his 2024 campaign, Lotto Dstny's Florian Vermeersch has sadly suffered a fractured femur, after a crash at the Vuelta Ciclista a la Region de Murcia.

"After the unfortunate crash of Florian Vermeersch at the Vuelta Ciclista a Murcia, the investigations showed he suffers from a fractured femur," reads an official announcement from the Belgian's Lotto Dstny team's official social media pages. "He will still be operated today in the hospital in Murcia. Speedy recovery Florian!"

Ben O'Connor was the eventual victor at the Spanish one-day race, taking his first win in Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team colours. Hopefully, it won't be too long before Vermeersch is back competing at the top end of such races.
