Fem van Empel misses Fleche Wallone Feminine "due to physical discomfort"

When the riders take to the startline at La Fleche Wallone Feminine, notable by her absence will be Jumbo-Visma prodigy Fem van Empel. The 20-year-old cyclocross world champion misses out "due to physical discomfort."
"Against all plans, unfortunately no Fleche Wallone Feminine for me," van Empel revealed. "I am taking some rest due to physical discomfort. Hopefully I'll be back soon!” Continues the Dutchwoman who has ridden two races so far in her debut road season at World Tour level.
After finishing eighth at the Volta Limburg Classic, van Empel had high hopes of another top 10 finish at the recent Brabantse Pijl although, unfortunately for her and Jumbo-Visma, she had to settle for crossing the line in thirty-fifth position.
In van Empel's absence, Jumbo-Visma will race La Fleche Wallone Feminine with the team of Teuntje Beekhuis, Eva van Agt, Maud Oudeman, Rosita Reijnhout, Noemi Ruëgg and Kim Cadzow.
