It has for several months been on the verge of collapse, and the Spanish authorities confirmed that they have arrested two people and have six more under investigation under an ongoing investigation for a doping ring.

According to EFE, Marcos Maynar, university professor and doctor at the University of Cáceres has been arrested in May for drug trafficking. Former pro rider and Kelme team manager Vicente Belda and his son, alongside former rider Ángel Vázquez Iglesias is also involved in the investigation.

Earlier in August Miguel Ángel López was interrogated by the police after suspicions of having been part of a drug trafficking case. He's been linked to this case, but has responded on social media saying that "currently I do not have any active investigation process and my lawyers would initiate the corresponding legal actions if necessary."
