British duo Simon Carr and Hugh Carthy set to lead EF Education-EasyPost at the Tour of the Alps

The Tour of the Alps was a successful race for EF Education-EasyPost last season, as Hugh Carthy finished second in the general classification, narrowly missing out on the overall victory by just 22 seconds to Tao Geoghegan Hart, whilst Simon Carr took his first win for the team on the final stage of the race.

Carr’s victory kick-started his season last year, as he went from strength to strength, with a third place finish at the Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenge and winning a stage of the Route d’Occitanie before taking the stage win and the overall victory at the Tour de Langkawi.

The British rider, who races under a French licence, carried his end-of-season form into 2024, as he took the victory at the Trofeo Calvià in his first race of the year. Meanwhile, Carthy also had a strong start to the season, as he finished sixth overall at O Gran Camiño with a third place finish on the final stage.

With both riders set to race the Giro d’Italia in May, they will be looking to hone their form ahead of the first Grand Tour of the season, with the Tour of the Alps regularly being used by many riders as a preparation race for the Corsa Rosa.

They will be supported by Jefferson Cepeda, Georg Steinhauser and the experienced Esteban Chaves, along with neo-pros Jardi van der Lee and Markel Beloki.
