Bahrain-Victorious general manager Milan Erzen has told RadioCycling that he is actively searching for a second title sponsor, bemoaning that the team’s finances are far away from those four or five teams at the top.
RadioCycling reports that the team’s budget is around €30m per year - which is less than half of the reported budgets of Ineos Grenadiers, Jumbo-Visma and UAE-Team Emirates. A new sponsor would add between €10-12m.
Bahrain had a co-title sponsor in 2019 and 2020, but McLaren pulled out due to financial cuts brought on by the Covid pandemic. "We are always looking and we are working on this to bring a second title sponsor," Erzen said.
"It all depends on how much someone can pay for this. Everything is open. We have had some discussions with some potential partners," Erzen concludes.
