One of the big hopes of Irish cycling,
Archie Ryan will depart
Jumbo-Visma for
EF Education-EasyPost after spending four years with the Dutch-based side's developmental team.
In a post on Jumbo-Visma Developmental Team's official X (Twitter) account, both Ryan and the team share a fond, parting message. “It has been a wild ride. There is nowhere I would have rather spent my U23 years," says the 22-year-old Irishman. "There have been ups and downs, but overall I am very pleased with how everything unfolded.”
Ryan is viewed as someone with high potential and although his transfer to EF Education-EasyPost, may not be a massive loss to the team that can boast the likes of Jonas Vingegaard, Sepp Kuss, Wout van Aert and more, his signing could prove a boost to EF in the coming seasons.
“I managed to get some great results along the way, but obviously there were some tough times as well with an injury. I have met some wonderful people and have made friends for life during this time," Ryan concludes. “Thanks to the team, I feel ready for the next step in my career, as I will turn pro. Even though I've felt like a part of a professional cycling team for the past four years already.”
