There has been much discussion about the future of Juan Ayuso following his withdrawal from the recent Giro d’Italia. The young Spaniard has been at the heart of media speculation since last year’s Tour de France, with many claiming he's on his way out of UAE Team Emirates.
After the Giro, some outlets reported—framing it as a surprise—that Ayuso would not be riding either the Tour de France or the Vuelta a Espana, portraying it as if the team were punishing him. In reality, this schedule had been carefully planned by the team well before the season began. While no athlete's future can ever be guaranteed 100%, there was no solid information to justify the suggestion that Ayuso was on the verge of leaving.
According to Diario AS, who spoke to sources close to the rider, Ayuso is expected to remain with UAE Team Emirates XRG next season—barring any major surprises. The same report also mentions a new addition to his race calendar for the end of the season: the Tour of Guangxi.

FUTURE

  • Ayuso is under contract with UAE Team Emirates until the end of 2028.
  • Several teams have shown interest, but neither Ayuso nor UAE are currently considering a move.
  • He is viewed as a key figure in both the present and future of the team.
  • Sources close to the rider suggest there is a 99.9% chance he stays with UAE through 2026.
  • His buyout clause is high, and neither side is interested in activating it at this time.
