2024 Vuelta a Espana GC Update after stage 19: Primoz Roglic into Red Jersey with O'Connor, Mas & Carapaz set for exciting fight for podium

Stage 19 of the 2024 Vuelta a Espana was the first of the last two mountain stage of the race. After nearly two weeks, Ben O'Connor's time in the Red Jersey was finally brought to an end as Primoz Roglic soloed away to the stage win and a massive time gap.

With the arrival at the decisive final climb, anticipation for the fight was sky-high, but in truth, Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe made short work of the rest of the challengers. With an attack by Aleksandr Vlasov, Daniel Martinez and Primoz Roglic, the Slovenian was alone in the first kilometres of the final climb to Moncalvillo, and the gap to his pursuers was only going to increase.

In the end, Primoz managed to cross the finish line in first place with little pain, wearing red for the first time since stage 6, and all bus officially securing the general classification with a time gap of 1 minute and 54 seconds ahead from Ben O'Connor in 2nd, and 2 minutes and 20 seconds ahead of Enric Mas, who remains 3rd.
