Given inflation, it's actually not much more than Froome was paid. Not that I think Pogacar is being underpaid. But what it highlights is how shocking Froome's overpayment looks every day. Would have been better (in hindsight) to give him one year at 8 million. Then Israel could have seen the situation more clearly, dumped him, and saved $17 million. Long-term contracts for injured guys in their 30s are so ridiculous. See it in baseball all the time and it almost never works out.05-11-2024 14:08

I know we're off-topic but, hey, Jerry Lee Lewis and Edgar Allen Poe. They both did the biathlon by marrying 13-year-olds who were also relatives. And of course it's still business as usual in many if not most African and Asian countries, and, yes, in some parts of America. Yet the newspaper the Guardian (good for cycling stories if nothing else) loves Poe but relishes calling Epstein a pedophile, despite there being no indication anyone nearly that young was involved.01-11-2024 13:28

Article was too long, repeated itself, and then spent two paragraphs summarizing what it had already said twice. I waded throught it but, yeah, it was really dry. Thanks for the heads up. Something didn't seem right.28-10-2024 12:36

20 is the exact number that finished in Colombia in 1995. Olano, Indurain, Pantani, . . . Hampsten, who was the last finisher. Armstrong didn't ride - course was too hard and he was not considered a climber at that time. Yes. I was there.03-10-2024 15:22

Roglic's cycling IQ is not very high. Not saying O'Connor eill win but Roglic will never see that red jersey again.23-08-2024 06:30

So what other team gifted Kuss? Give it up already. Kuss took the lead by a lot less than O'Connor and defended well in the TT and was never under threat by other teams which gave him every right to be supported by his teammates. Being attacked by your own teammates is a complete no-no. There's no such thing as being given a gift by a teammate. Roglic is a bum for what he did. Not only that, but Roglic is getting old is not a threat to win this race whether O'Connor does or not. You understand nothing about pro bike racing. Neither does Roglic, which is why nobody is going to help him.23-08-2024 06:15
