Eli Iserbyt has shown some good form to start the 2023/24 cyclocross season. The Belgian crosser of
Pauwels Sauzen - Bingoal has two wins and four second places from his first six races.
Next up for the 26-year-old is a race that might as well be in his back garden, giving him some extra motivation in his attempt to secure victory. “The Koppenbergcross is held a five-minute drive from my home, so it's a bit of a mini-championship for me there," Iserbyt tells Wielerflits. "I always enjoy riding there and it is a very important race for me.”
Next weekend, the stakes are raised even higher again as the European Championship arrives on the calendar. “It will be a day-by-day recovery. We're leaving for France on Thursday, so it will be Sunday again soon," he looks forward. "The European Championship is also a very big goal. It's been a year or two since I last won a jersey, so I could do it again. Realistically, there are five or six riders who can win, so it will be important to be focused at the start.”
