Olav Kooij took another stage victory in the
Tour of Denmark. He was the first to cross the finish line in third stage.
"This came pretty close to the dream scenario," said Kooij. He went on to explain how he achieved this feat and how his teammates played a crucial role ."We had to chase a lot to take back the leading group, and Pascal Eenkhoorn and Tosh Van der Sande, in particular, did a great job.”
He continues, “In the final, I followed Christophe, who had made it clear in advance that we had to go through the last corner first. Then We came through the corner in first and second. I knew there was a good chance that we would make it. That Christophe also got some bonus seconds is great.”
Kooij discloses the victory was not a fluke but a carefully devised plan ."We knew we had to survive the gravel sections to have a chance at all. They were quite far from the finish and were not difficult enough to break the peloton to pieces. After we had taken stock, it was decided to go for me. going in the sprint. If you finish it, that's great,” concluded Kooij. He currently holds the 45th position in GC, 1 minute and 27 seconds behind overall leader Magnus Sheffield.
