OFFICIAL: Juan Ayuso abandons the 2025 Giro d'Italia on stage 18

It's now official. Juan Ayuso has followed the other big, pre-race Maglia Rosa favourite Primoz Roglic in abandoning the 2025 Giro d'Italia.
Ayuso endured a tough ordeal at the 2025 Giro d’Italia, one far below the expectations he had come into the race with. Ahead of stage 18, the latest setback came to light in the form of a nasty wasp sting that left the Spanish cyclist blind in his right eye. As this new circulated around the cycling world, the announcement of the Spaniard's abandon seemed only a matter of time and now it is offical. Juan Ayuso has got into the back of a UAE Team Emirates - XRG team car and left the Giro d'Italia.
