Good morning and welcome to the liveblog of the Giro d’Italia. We have a new leader in the GC and Lidl-Trek will be eager to defend that position until the end of the day. However, the parcours is far too unpredictable for any guarantees, and anything could happen out on the road. The stage itself will decide who steps onto the podium at the finish, and we will be here to bring you every twist and turn of the race live and minute by minute.

- No problem with being extra careful. Should Pellizzari (against all the odds) win the Giro on bonus seconds and Vingegaard didn't go for them, Visma will be kicking themselves. With the Red Bull KM, there are plenty of bonus seconds. Combined with bonus seconds at the finish a maximum of 2 minutes could realistically be brought back through that. But Vingegaard is not as fast as Pellizzari, which is why Red Bull need to use the conservative Roglič tactic - wait for the sprint. That will also mean they're motivated to chase down breakaways so enough bonus seconds are on the line

- The boys on the Nero Show (YouTube channel) also discussed this topic in detail. It seems Milan changed his bike setup for this season to try to improve even more, but it has possibly affected his sprint negatively based on his results this year. The Nero Show compared the power data and apparently Milan was putting out a couple hundred watts more than Magnier but still lost that sprint. They thought perhaps Milan was wasting those watts because he was all over the place during his sprint, which may have been due to his bike setup (I think they said Milan's new setup was a smaller bike frame and wider handlebars?).Pogboom13-05-2026

KerisVroom12-05-2026 - Nah, in terms of luck, the crash at Itzulia Basque Country 2024 had a much bigger impact on the whole season and helped Pogacar immensely. Jonas Vingegaard, Primož Roglič, and Remco Evenepoel all out in one crash. (Also, Pogacar's teammate Jay Vine almost became paraplegic that day. Seriously, Jay must be the unluckiest pro cyclist in history... Nothing he could've done in either crash.)Pogboom12-05-2026
