Cofidis team the victims of shocking burglary overnight at 2025 Tour de France - 11 race bikes stolen

Stage 1 of the 2025 Tour de France should have been a day of celebration for the Cofidis team as Benjamin Thomas' day in the breakaway earned the Frenchman a spell in one of the sport's most iconic jersey - the polka-dots of King of the Mountains leader. Sadly however, disaster has struck the French team overnight.

"During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the Cofidis team fell victim to a burglary. The door of the workshop truck was forced open, and eleven LOOK Cycle bikes were stolen despite the security measures that had been put in place," announced a post on the official social media pages of the team on Sunday. "Police officers visited the hotel in the morning to record the offence and begin their investigation. Cofidis strongly condemns this act of vandalism and calls on those responsible to show civility and take responsibility for their actions."

With Cofidis being a French team, and one of the smaller budgets in the Tour de France peloton, losing 11 of their racing bikes in an instance such as this is a real blow. All eyes will now be on the likes of Thomas, Bryan Coquard and co to see if they can send a message on the road on stage 2.
