"I didn't have freshest legs," said Mathieu van der Poel after finishing fifth at the Benidorm leg of the UCI World Cup on Sunday.
The Dutchman crashed out of race winning contention, ending his streak of cyclocross victories. However, despite this, the world champion again demonstrated his power on a straight during lap 3 where he overtook riders like Felipe Orts, Lars Van der Haar or Laurens Sweeck with consummate ease.
