"One of my favourite races and also one of the hardest" - Tadej Pogacar returns to Liege-Bastogne-Liege full of ambition

With a win and a DNF in his last two appearances at Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Tadej Pogacar has something of a mixed history with the fourth monument of the season. Nevertheless, the Slovenian is full of ambition as he returns in 2024.

"Liege is one of my favourite races and also one of the hardest, so it’s always nice to go back there," previews the 25-year-old in conversation with the official website of UAE Team Emirates as their lineup for Liege-Bastogne-Liege is confirmed.

Last year of course, Pogacar crashed out hard in Liege, breaking his wrist and almost ruining his plans for the rest of the year. With him taking on a Giro d'Italia/Tour de France double in 2024, it's more imperative than ever to escape injury-free. "Since Catalunya I’ve spent some time at altitude with some teammates and we’ve been building up well together towards the Giro," Pogacar says. "For these Ardennes races we have a very dynamic team. The form is good and I think I can do well but on a whole the team is very strong and we’ll have options which is always an advantage. I’m excited to pin on a race number again on Sunday.”

UAE Team Emirates for Liege-Bastogne-Liege:

Joao Almeida, Sjoerd Bax, Finn Fisher Black, Marc Hirschi, Domen Novak, Tadej Pogacar and Diego Ulissi.
