Alejandro Valverde underwent surgery this Tuesday for the collarbone fracture he suffered after falling in training before the end of the year. The Spaniard, who despite being retired is still very active with Movistar Team and participating in gravel races, has published a photo in his social media in which he appears in the hospital after having the necessary surgery.
"It has not been the best way to change the year but fortunately I am in the best possible hands. Many thanks to doctors Francisco Esparza and Juan Francisco Abellán for their usual expertise and professionalism and to the whole team of @hospitalmesa for their excellent treatment. It's time to rest and recover well to enjoy the bike again soon in this 2024. Happy new year to all and thanks for the love that you always send me!". The veteran is looking to perform in a few events in February including Cape Epic, so it is now a race against time to discover if that is possible.
